Celebrating National Bourbon Day in The Edge of Bourbon Country!

Are you ready to celebrate National Bourbon Day on June 14th, 2019? Keep reading for some inspiration–a few “neat” ideas to make your celebration of America’s Native Spirit spectacular.

The Bourbon Line/The B-Line

First and foremost, you should make plans to do The B-Line on National Bourbon Day. This unique collection of distilleries, bars and restaurants is a perfect start to any bourbon adventure in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Start at Neeley Family Distillery in Sparta for their unique story of spirit history. Little hint, they have more illegal history in making spirits in Kentucky than the Beam family has legal history. It is a great time and maybe you will get to try out their new Salted Caramel Whiskey.

Next, head over to Old Kentucky Bourbon Bar for a carefully crafted cocktail. Then enjoy a leisurely dinner at Purple Poulet (we recommend the fried chicken!) and maybe a nightcap at the world’s largest whiskey collection, which you’ll find at Newberry Bros. Coffee and Prohibition Bourbon Bar.

Don’t forget to pick up your B-Line Line Guide at any participating venue and collect stamps from two bars, two restaurants, and two distilleries to cash in on some sweet bourbon swag.

The Select Six

Another great way to enjoy National Bourbon Day is to spend some time sipping with the Select Six in Northern Kentucky. This collection of great hotel bars, neighborhood bars and restaurants have all banded together to offer some specially selected barrel picks from some of the most famous distilleries in the state. Read more about the Select Six barrel picks here.

A round sign with the names of the Northern Kentucky Select Six venues printed around the circumference: BB Riverboats, Midway Cafe, Neat, Mainstrasse Village Pub, Rich's Proper, Union 42.

We suggest sipping at NEAT in the Embassy Suites RiverCenter, Midway Cafe in Fort Thomas, Rich’s Proper Food & Drink in the Renaissance District of Covington or Mainstrasse Village Pub, Union 42 or taking a cool bourbon cruise on BB Riverboats. We know you will be celebrating the day with a solid sipper from the Select Six. Ask about their new Russell’s Reserve barrel pick. It is lip-smacking good.

The Big Bourbon Toast

Maybe big celebrations are your thing. If so, you definitely want to check out the annual Big Bourbon Toast, hosted by New Riff Distilling on the Purple People Bridge in Newport, KY.

The toast starts at 5:30 p.m. on June 14th and we know they will host at least 2,000 people all toasting to National Bourbon Day. This year they are starting a new riff on this tradition by hosting a Tug of War on the bridge… Kentucky vs. Ohio. Winner takes all and gets bourbon bragging rights all year long. Scoot on over to their Facebook page here to let them know you are coming to toast!

We hope you enjoy National Bourbon Day in Northern Kentucky, the Edge of Bourbon Country. If you come for the toast, stick around and enjoy The B-Line, Select Six and all the amazing bourbon events happening in the region. Make sure to stop in CVG Airport‘s Cork n’ Bottle kiosk on Concourse A to take all this great bourbon home with you!
