We are back at it again friends. Dot (best hair in the office) and I (cool but not that cool) hit the road for our Meet the B-Line series, to visit Wiseguy Lounge, located in Covington’s Mainstrasse Village.
Hidden atop Goodfellas Pizzeria, Wiseguy Lounge is a speakeasy bourbon lounge with leather sofas, rich dark woods, a chill and relaxed vibe and a stocked bar featuring over 800 bourbons, wine, local craft beer, and premium spirits. Their menu is robust and has something for everyone to enjoy. Want to sample a flight? Their full-time bartenders have created thoughtful tasting flights for those looking to explore.
After placing our order, I asked our outgoing bartender what she liked most about working at Wiseguy Lounge. She indicated that while they have a variety of great cocktails to choose from, she loves the creative freedom to create personalized cocktails for guests. With a fully stocked bar, house made purees and syrups, there are a lot of great ingredients to work with when crafting something special and yummy. Here is a sample of the cocktails you can taste at their location.
What We Drank
Peanut Butter Chocolate (PBC) Martini
If it is peanut butter and chocolate, it is for me. This deliciously chilled and creamy cocktail was like sipping a smooth chocolate peanut butter milkshake. Made with homemade peanut butter tequila, café coffee, crème de cacao, chocolate bitters and espresso, I was obsessed and highly recommend that if you like dessert cocktails, give this one a try.
Dirty Smash
Dot enjoyed this refreshing and tasty cocktail made with Benchmark Bourbon, homemade demerara gomme, lemon and mint.
Godfather
We sampled this flavorful cocktail per the bartender’s recommendation. Made with New Riff Distillery Barrel Pick, Sazerac Rye, demerara gomme, Jerry Thomas & Orange Bitters, and bourbon barrel smoke. The smoke compliments the multi layers of flavor packed in this delightful bourbon forward cocktail.
While enjoying our cocktails, Dot and I explored the space which includes a covered outdoor patio, perfect for relaxing and socializing with friends on a clear night. Since it was 95 degrees outside, we settled for the comfy leather couches toward the front. I must admit, these leather couches hold a core memory for me. Eight years ago, three girl friends and I sipped cocktails, laughed and cried as we said goodbye to a dear friend that was leaving the Cincy Region the next day to chase her dream in Washington D.C.
Wiseguy Lounge is a great place to make and share memories with loved ones. If you have never been, Dot and I recommend you stop by, have a drink with or without alcohol and be sure to grab a slice of pizza on your way out. We sure did.
