It’s official. Northern Kentucky is home to some of the best bourbon bars in the U.S., according to The Bourbon Review. The magazine’s criteria for selecting the bars spread across every corner of the U.S. includes creative menus, private barrel selections, and staff members who are passionate about sharing bourbon knowledge with their guests.
Eight bars on the list are located here in NKY and six of the eight are members of The B-Line! The local bars included are listed below.

Prohibition Bourbon Bar at Newberry Bros. Coffee boasts the largest collection of bourbon and rye whiskeys found anywhere in the world. So it’s a no-brainer that they make the list of best bourbon bars in the U.S. But beyond that, their cocktails are amazing. Pete’s Old Fashioned is hands down my favorite anywhere.

Tousey House Tavern is a bit off the beaten path in Burlington, Ky., but they’re not a stop to skip over. From their amazing bourbon collection to the delicious food, there’s a reason they have so many repeat customers. Make sure you order a hot brown. Speaking of bests, some people think it’s the best one in the U.S. Shhh, don’t tell Louisville. 😋

Situated along the main strip of Covington’s famous and historic Mainstrasse Village, Bourbon Haus 1841 is a go-to for specialty bourbon flights, bourbon-infused cocktails, and locally crafted beers & wines, served by some of the most friendly and knowledgeable bartenders in town.

Also in Mainstrasse Village, check out Old Kentucky Bourbon Bar (OKBB). With more than 600 bottles of bourbon to choose from, plus cocktails and a rotating selection of beer, wine, and spirits, be sure to take your time and get acquainted. No need to be the slightest bit intimidated by their impressive bourbon selection or the trademark chalkboard. Like all the stops on The B-Line, the staff is happy to welcome you and help you “find your sipping point.”

Wiseguy Lounge is located on the second floor of Goodfella’s Pizzeria, also in Mainstrasse Village. You will feel like you’re heading upstairs to a hidden speakeasy as you walk by the pizza counter. They’re famous for their selection, of course, but also for an incredible cocktail selection. We recommend the Broken Hatchet, complete with a flaming presentation.

New to this year’s list of the Best Bourbon Bars is B-Line stop, The Globe in Covington. Located inside of a building that used to be home to a gentleman’s club, this neighborhood bar has plenty of history to share, amazing cocktails, and friendly people to enjoy happy hour with. They even offer a selection of board games to play while sipping.
The list from The Bourbon Review also includes Northern Kentucky favorites, Rich’s Proper Food & Drink and Libby’s Southern Comfort, both located in Covington. Both establishments are excellent stops for some Kentucky nectar, but aren’t members of The B-Line… yet. 😉
