Jerry’s Jug House

After prohibition beer could only be purchased from locations with what is now called a retail package liquor license, in Newport those were commonly referred to as “jug houses”. In business since 1933, Jerry’s Jug House is the last remaining Newport jug house. The current owners are the 5th set and have breathed new life into the business. They have kept the cheap domestic beers and good bourbon, and added natural wines and flaked-ice cocktails with house-made syrups.
