For those who are new here, The B-Line is Northern Kentucky’s very own bourbon tour of local distilleries, bars, and restaurants. To complete The B-Line, grab yourself a Line Guide and get it stamped at 2 distilleries, 2 bars, and 2 restaurants to get some free bourbon swag!
We are so excited to welcome our sixth bar to The B-Line, Rich’s Proper Food and Drink!
In order for a bar to be eligible to be on The B-Line, they must carry at least 100 bourbons, with a preference for those from Kentucky. They must also stock all local varieties of The B-Line distilleries (currently New Riff, Boone County Distilling, The Old Pogue Distillery, Neeley Family Distillery and Second Sight Spirits), offer Bourbon Flights and specialty Bourbon cocktails, host Bourbon related events when available, and complete Stave and Thief Establishment Level Certification through Moonshine University.
Rich’s Proper Food and Drink is owned by Bill and Morgan Whitlow. They remodeled the space in a downtown Covington building that, until the 1950s, was a jewelry store named Rich’s Gruen Watches. All that remains of the store is the antique neon sign that Bill has restored and lights up every night.
During their remodeling, they found tin tiles under the dropped ceiling and exposed brick beneath the old plaster. Another cool detail about Rich’s is the fact that their bar top is made of repurposed wood from a bowling alley lane. How fun!
Worried you might not find a drink you will like? Don’t be! Rich’s has drink menu that caters to all preferences with craft cocktails, craft beers, curated wines, and, of course, an expansive bourbon collection.
In addition, Bill is a renowned mixologist. He’s two-time winner of the Woodford Manhattan Experience, national champion for Ole Smoky Moonshine, and won “Best Mint Julep” at this year’s Kentucky Derby Festival. Stop on in and sip for yourself!
Please join us in giving a warm, B-Line welcome to Rich’s Proper Food and Drink! FYI – like all the bars here on The B-Line, Rich’s was named to this year’s list of The Best Bourbon Bars in America by The Bourbon Review. Make sure to visit and get your Line Guide stamped while enjoying this newest award-winning bar on The B-Line.
